15th September

The season has turned, it has been a nice long scorching summer, but it had to end at some point.

Out in the field we can now actually see how many Pumpkins we have.

The leaves on the pumpkin plants are huge, so until they die of, we cannot get a rea look at the crop.

But now we can see, and they are looking amazing, with two to three pumpkins per plant.

And this year they are all an even size, a decent size.

There are some big ones, but some years there are monsters, when that happens you usually only get one per.

In the tunnels the cucumbers have again been amazing, we have had one of the best crops ever, they have loved the long scorching summer.

But their leaves are now dying of, we will get cucumbers until the first frost, but they have now slowed down.

This week I ordered the last seeds of the season, all for the tunnels, we have already planted spring cabbage in two tunnels, and these will get harvested early next year.

This week we will block five thousand red winter lettuce, fifteen thousand spring onions, and we will do another five thousand spinach and five thousand ruby chard, and all of these plants will get planted when we have finished harvesting in the tunnels and sit until early next year.

This year we are doing our annual Pumpkin Day, but this year we are doing it over two weekends, Sunday 19t October and Sunday 26th October.

We are doing it this year along with Jamesfield Treehouse soft play, they are going to set up loads of kid’s activities, and if you book a slot, you get a token to collect a free Pumpkin.

Along with that there is the Jamesfield farm shop and restaurant and you can also visit the Jamesfield garden centre, so there is plenty to do.

Pumpkins this year will be £5 for the large ones and £3 for the smaller ones.
