25th August
Last week I was talking about all the Cabbage, Romanesco, Ruby chard, Spinach and lettuce needing planted.
Well yes, we did get them all planted, but I forgot to take photos, but I will for next week.
We managed to get thirteen thousand of these planted by Wednesday.
I had rotovated and rolled three and a half tunnels on Sunday, so they were ready to get planted on Monday.
While Rab and I concentrated on the harvesting, I left Ryan to the planting, and he had them all in by Wednesday.
I had thought the weather was to be a wee bit cooler, but no it was still around 20 degrees every day, heating the tunnels up to well over 30.
But Ryan is one of the few workers we have had, that can work all day when temperatures can reach the 40s and works away quite happily.
.
In the past we would only have people planting till around 12, then me and Rab would need to take over, we can both work away in high temperatures.
I haven’t a clue why some can work in these high temperatures that the tunnels can reach and why some cant.
Out in the field we did get the fleece of off the winter crops, and I first went through with the brush weeder, then again with the front camera guided weeder.
We then moved the bed weeder down from the leeks and onions, which we have now finished.
Over the next week or so we will start to hand weed the winter crops on the bed weeder, then we will get the bed weeder in the shed and away until next year.
